Two prominent figures, the talented actor Im Si-wan and charismatic aespa member, Winter, have come together to breathe life into the official tournament anthem, titled “Win For You.”
An Unusual Collaboration
The organizing committee for the Busan World Table Tennis Championships announced the official release of the anthem, “Win For You,” recorded in collaboration by Im Si-wan and Winter. This unusual and exciting collaboration has generated significant anticipation among fans since an image was unveiled on SM Entertainment’s official social media on September 19.
The revealed image turned out to be the digital cover of “Win For You,” which was unveiled on September 20. Furthermore, a teaser video will be released one day ahead of the official album release on September 20, and the album and music video will go public on September 21 at 6 p.m.
An Anthem with a Touch of Class
The album “2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships” consists of a single track and has garnered significant interest since its announcement, as SM Entertainment, Winter’s agency, has been directly involved in its production. SM’s classic label, “SM Classics,” has aimed to create a new form of sports anthem that combines the orchestra with the essence of K-POP.
“Win For You” is a song that masterfully combines Im Si-wan and Winter’s powerful vocals with the grandiose orchestra of “SM Classics TOWN Orchestra.” What stands out especially is the distinctive sound of table tennis serving as a motif in the introduction, in perfect harmony with the tournament’s spirit.
The song’s lyrics, emphasizing the idea of overcoming hardships and moving forward together beyond limits, encapsulate the true sportsmanship spirit, receiving praise for its inspiration.
Promotion and Beyond
“Win For You” will be widely used in the pre-tournament promotion and will resonate at the opening ceremony in Busan. In addition to cheering on athletes during the competition, this collaboration with world-renowned artists has added an extra boost to the prestigious sporting event.
The organizing committee also appointed Winter as the tournament’s promotional ambassador, joining Im Siwan in their efforts to raise awareness about the Busan World Table Tennis Championships.
Furthermore, an inauguration ceremony will be held on September 21 to introduce the 20 university students selected as official supporters, who will play an active role in promoting the event through content creation and event planning.
Scheduled to take place from February 16 to 25 at Busan’s BEXCO, the 2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships will be the first tournament of this magnitude in South Korea. With 8 men’s and 8 women’s spots up for grabs for the 2024 Paris Olympics, this international table tennis tournament has become one of the world’s largest sporting events, with athletes and representatives from over 40 countries and more than 2,000 individuals descending on Busan for the event.
