Setback for LIMELIGHT's Gaeun in CSAT: Unexpected Hospitalization

On November 15, 19-year-old Gaeun, a member of LIMELIGHT, faced an unforeseen setback as she was hospitalized due to sudden abdominal pain, unfortunately preventing her from taking the scheduled College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT).

The Unexpected Turn of Events

On the same day, her agency, 143 Entertainment, revealed:

“Gaeun experienced sudden abdominal pain and visited the emergency room. Due to high fever and elevated inflammation levels, she has decided not to take the CSAT.”

Gaeun was advised to remain hospitalized for an additional 2-3 days, undoubtedly a surprising turn of events for the young artist.

Other Idol Artists in CSAT

Meanwhile, other K-pop stars such as Yeseo from Kep1er, Dahyun from Rocket Punch, ZOA from Weeekly, Lee Ji Woo from TripleS, and Gong Yu Bin all took part in the 2024 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) on November 16.

Interesting Insights from CSAT 2024

This year’s exam is the first in four years to be conducted without the mandatory usage of masks. The CSAT took place in 1,279 exam rooms across 84 testing zones nationwide, with a total of 504,588 examinees, a decrease of 3,442 from the previous year.

Significance of CSAT

The CSAT, or College Scholastic Ability Test, serves as a pivotal examination gauging a student’s preparedness for college studies, acting as a fundamental graduation requirement for high school students. Various measures are taken to accommodate the testing schedule, including a delayed opening of the Korean stock market and adjustments to metro services and traffic patterns, ensuring minimal disruptions for students undergoing this annual assessment.

Strict Rules During CSAT

Electronic devices such as mobile phones, smart devices (including smartwatches), tablets, and earphones with communication (Bluetooth) capabilities are not allowed in the exam room. If an examinee brings an electronic device to the exam room, they must submit it to the supervisor before the start of the first session and can retrieve it after the exam ends. Failure to submit the device and being caught with it during the exam will be treated as a violation, resulting in the invalidation of the exam. Only analog watches without payment or communication functions (including Bluetooth) are permitted, and no electronic devices are allowed.
